New Image Of Lynn Collins As The Princess In John Carter

Taylor Kitsch’s name is one that I think we’re going to become really familiar with in the next few years. Along with Garrett Hedlund, who led Disney’s TRON: Legacy and is set to co-lead the upcoming Akira remake, Kitsch is one of the most promising rising stars and is already making a name for himself in the fantasy/action genre.
We got the awesome first full-length trailer for Kitsch’s next film, John Carter, at the end of last month, and it gave us a lot to look forward to when it hits next year. We’ve now got a great new image of Kitsch’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine co-star, Lynn Collins, to share with you, scanned from Movie Magazine’s preview of the film, via ComicBookMovie.com.
“From Academy Award(R)-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”–a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). “John Carter” is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs , whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.”
Like Kitsch, Collins was brilliant in Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine spin-off in the X-Men franchise, and I’m really looking forward to seeing them reunited on the screen for this. (Granted, they didn’t share any screen time in Wolverine, to the best of my recollection, but still.) Along with Kitsch and Collins, the film will star Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Thomas Haden Church, and Ciarán Hinds.
John Carter is set to be with us in 3D on 9th March next year, which means we’ve got less than three months before we see this all unfold on the big screen. I have a feeling it’s going to be pretty epic. Without further ado, here’s the great new image of Collins dressed up for the Princess part, followed by the full-length trailer beneath it, just in case you missed it last month. Enjoy, and as usual with the image, click to enlarge.

Two New TV Spots for Disney’s JOHN CARTER

Just a few days ago, we brought you two cool TV spots for director Andrew Stanton‘s forthcoming big screen adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel, John Carter of Mars for Walt Disney Pictures. Now, we have two brand new TV spots for the film, featuring new footage. Check them out below!

International Trailer for John Carter Shows the Journey to Mars

Disney's adaptation of John Carter was originally titled John Carter of Mars which revealed right away that the red planet was going to involved in some way. The teaser trailer and first feature-length trailer have all focused on Civil War veteran Carter (X-Men Origins: Wolverine's Taylor Kitsch) and his adventures after he is mysteriously transported to Mars. A recent TV spot at least briefly revealed Carter's first moments on the planet, but none of the promotional materials have spent too much time back in Carter's time on Earth. That is, until AICN found a Japanese trailer that finally reveals some bits from Carter's life before being transported to Mars. The trailer also includes a narrative device used by author Edgar Rice Burroughs, the author that created the pulp hero. In The Princess of Mars, his first novel using the character, the story was said to be true and was passed on to Burroughs for publication 21 years later. In the trailer, Burroughs (Daryl Sabara, Spy Kids) is Carter's nephew and the movie is a retelling of Carter's private journals.

Walt Disney Pictures released a brand new movie still featuring Taylor Kitsch in the upcoming film “John Carter” by director Andrew Stanton and starring Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Bryan Cranston, Polly Walker, Daryl Sabara, with Thomas Haden Church and Willem Dafoe.
Synopsis: From Academy Award–winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”-a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). “John Carter” is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. JOHN CARTER Ranks as 2012’s Most Anticipated Movie

Holiday moviegoers watched new trailers for many of 2012’s top fantasy movies including The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Men In Black 3 and Prometheus in addition to previously released trailers for The Hunger Games, The Avengers and John Carter.
A readers survey at the Hero Complex blog of The L.A. Times ranked JOHN CARTER as the most anticipated movie of 2012 with The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in the second and third slots.
In an earlier interview, Mark Strong, who plays the alien leader Matai Shang, told fans to expect a dazzling mix of sci-fi and a period backdrop from director Andrew Stanton, making his first live-action feature after a series of Pixar films.
"Andrew's such a great storyteller," Strong said. "We're in very safe hands and you know he's going to make something exceptional. The thing that I think will distinguish it, which I'm most excited by, is that even though it takes place in space it's science fiction. It's from a Victorian point of view. Because Edgar Rice Burrows novels were at the turn of the century and his perception of space was different from ours. The Martians, for example, wear breast plates and swords and helmets with wings on them."
